No more Fuzzy Funky Braids

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

So this week is my fifth week in braids! I am still on my protective styling tip and want to keep them in till the 6th week mark. They were getting rather funky and needed some TLC, so after I saw Wairimu of  www.wairimunyandia.com purchase some Aussie products I ran to Nakumatt Junction to get me some of that Aussie ish.

I bought the Aussie Moist Conditioner (Kshs 645) and the 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Treatment (Kshs 745) and an impulsive purchase of Doo Gro Mega Thick Growth Oil (Kshs 795).

To proceed with wash day, I diluted Tresemme Natural Shampoo with water in a spray bottle and sprayed my scalp then gently massaged my scalp to loosen the dirt. I rinsed the shampoo and used the 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Treatment and left it in for about 10 minutes. I then applied a few drops of Suave Almond + Shea Butter Conditioner along the length of the braids as a leave-in.

I then oiled my scalp with the Doo Gro oil, after adding Lavender essential oil to make the smell more bearable. This product is a mixture of Soybean and Almond oil as well as Shea Butter and has no mineral oil.

Quick tip to avoid frizzy braids, apply some gel on the length of the braids and wrap with a silk scarf before bed. It works a treat.

Do you have any tips and tricks for maintaining protective styles?

Happy Tuesday Folks.
