Back to Braids......Gah!!

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Braids have been a constistent feature here on Kurly Kichana, we love box braids! Evidence, here, here, here and here. It is defo our go-to protective style and since I am working out more often and need an easy to maintain style I was more than happy to wake up at 7am to go to Kenyatta Market to get braids.

To prep my hair, I prepooed with coconut oil for 40 mins, then shampooed with Tressemme Naturals shampoo and then deep conditioned. As I could not be bothered to dash to the CBD to buy deep conditioner, I mixed some Hellmans Mayonnaise, Honey and Lavender essential oil and slapped it on my hair for 45mins.

After the deep conditioning, I rinsed my hair thoroughly and then used Suave Aloe+ Ginseng conditioner as my leave in and sealed with jojoba oil. I then stretched my hair in two pig tails as below. If you are on instagram then you already know all of this :-)

Oops, bra strap showing!

Right after I got back from the market, this size is great coz my scalp was not tender at all.

Slightly feeling myself!

Thanks for reading guys! Have you been protective styling? What styles are you guys rocking? Follow us on instagram to see more of our shenanigans :-)

How much did you pay for these?

Is there someone you could recommend who does good box braids. Finding the right person is pretty much the holy grail- and since I'd sworn off kenyatta market ( http://acidpen.co.ke/?p=1256 ) I'm surprised those fabulous braids were done there. You look great, btw. :)

@Helen Thanks a bunch :-) I recommend the Lady who did them, her name is Nyambura (stall 196) in Kenyatta market. She listens to all the instructions we give her and we have been going to her for over 10 years.
