Ecostyler! The styler

Thursday, February 7, 2013

Ecostyler Pink Gel, is heaven-sent! The gel does not flake, moisturises like a dream and defines a curl like no other, we have found it works great at taming those edges and laying them down.

We have received many comments about people not being able to find it, Fear not! Make a short trip to Super Cosmetics on Mama Ngina Street and you shall find a litre of this magical gel at Kshs 395, you can also do what we did buy the tub and split it between two, just call us frugal.

Ingredients:

Water, Carbomer, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, PVP, Glycerin, Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) Oil, Chamomile (Anthemis Nobilis) Extract, Calendula Officinalis Extract, Echinacea Angustifolia, Centella Asiatica, Triethanolamine, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate, Polysorbate 20, Tetrasodium EDTA, Fragrance, D&C Red No. 33.

The ingredients may not great for those who like to use all-natural products but the product does a great job. See picture below

Eco-styler gel ( Mary got to keep the original tub and I was left with a Kenpoly container)

Any other gels that you guys can recommend?

I used ecostyler for a while till I tried Hawaiian Silky. It was in the supermarkets and at super cosmetics a while back but just like the ecostyler, it disappeared. Fortunately I had enough stocked up. The curl definition is awesome. I'd definitely recommend it

I think sharing it is a great idea. I have a huge tub of the eco styler with olive oil, it is going to take a while. I would also recommend Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Souffle Gel, it is the one I used the most.

Very defined, coils are popping! :) so happy you postEd this!!! Bought the olive oil one this week online. Trying out very soon. One question: do u use a leave-in AND oil then gel...hope I didnt make a mistake getting a hold of ten for my fine hair :/

Hey! Is Hawaiian Silky a gel or just conditioner, I think we saw it at the beauty shop near Super Cosmetics? We have to try it as well

Your wish my be answered very soon :-)

Hehehehhe it could have been also that we had depleted our funds and were each left with Kshs 500, so splitting the Kshs 395 was a smart idea at the time. WE love your blog BTW!!! you have some great pictures...Wish we could get Shea Moisture here..sigh

Hey kinky_lockz...The olive one is great as well.. Mary was using it a few months ago..I use a little leave in conditioner, gel then oil! If you find the hold is too strong just water it down in your hands before applying!

As long as you are reviewing products there is a "new" beauty shop just before you reach the beauty options on Kimathi street if you approach it from Hilton. They have some products I say there that deserve to be checked out. I don't get to town often and I rely on you guys for product reviews because we all know I am not a product junkie (insert asterix whistling here. Check the place out....

I have been using the 'Eco styler gel' for almost 2 years now and i love it! I used to alternate between the pink one and the brown one but later settled for the brown because it gave better hold...that was when i was natural. When i relaxed my hair last year, i still had an almost full tub of gel so i have been using that to slick down my edges. I only buy it from super cosmetics and have never had a problem finding it. The pink one is good too so i will buy it again, i also found it to be moisturizing. Happy hair growing!

Hey guys that stuff turns your curls white literally. Doesn't matter what I do. I got a tub if anyone wants some

Hey ladies the eco styler does nothing for me apart from turn my hair white . I have tried with some leave in on , without, with oil, without...... Absolutely nothing. So if someone wants some let me know I got a tub up for grabs!

Hello!!! i'm so new in this natural hair business...not yet gone natural though because i want it cut and styled well and my stylist is in nairobi... so to cut the long story short... why are you using gel on your hair?... does it give the curl or what... i'm so green i don't even know how to ask this question.. after you apply the gel like today that means you'll wash your hair tomorrow... questions questions... i should just send you an email.

Hey! How are you using it? and how much are you using? Depending on how long your hair is, you can use it for twist and braid outs instead of wash n gos..this would reduce the amount you need..do you let it dry completely?

Hey welcome to the exciting world of being natural! well gel enhances your curl pattern and helps keep your hairstyles last longer which means you dont have to wash your hair errday. kindly send an email to kurlykichana@gmail.com if you need any more info

I got my Ecostyler gel today, very excited to use it. At first I couldn't find it because I went to Super Cosmetics Westlands, what a waste of time, they hadn't stocked in two months and wanted me to spend money for a product that was double the price of the Ecostyler gel but quarter the quantity....it looked good but these are broke times...my advice, stick to Super Cosmetics Mama Ngina street.

Hey hey am so sorry for the late response . I think I have tried everything regarding the gel. It just does not do it for me. I've noticed from other blogs that some naturals don't get along with it too. Perhaps you could do a tutorial on how you use it and I could give it one more shot before I toss it. My hair is a self imposed bob cut , very long at the front and short at the back.

Hey, we shall try do a video showing how we use the gel! look out for it soon

I use the echo styler gel (pink) for now I find it definitely defines my twist-outs but i find that my hair is a bit dry with the gel. I am looking for the olive oil version. Meanwhile Ebrahims on Moi Avenue has blue echo styler for five hundred and something if anyone is looking. Lucy.

Unfortunately we don't have Ecostyler available here in SA and the gel choice-correction, ood gel choice is so limited. I'm currently using Isoplus Styling Gel. It's cheap, doesn't flake, has a neutral scent and doesn't harden my hair. LOVE!

Nyachomba, I'm just loving that cut!
