After Yoga Twists and Shea Moisture Review

Thursday, February 9, 2012

I have a confession to make...

This morning, I didn't bother to tie or twist/braid my hair before my work out (Yoga Burn - I highly recommend it), I know it was wrong, but sue me. I was sleepy and grumpy and frankly my dear I didn't give a damn. But lo and behold! The shrinkage after was more than welcome! I actually liked it :)

Prior to that, I had tried out Shea Moistures Curl Enhancing Smoothie for my twists. I must say, It lived up to all the hype!

My two day old twist out

Post work out!

All fluffy and stuff :)

Shea Moisture Review:

My Review:
  • I have to say that I liked it.
  • It has a thick gooey consistency and pretty awesome scent - floral and sweet, but not too over-powering.
  • It defines the curls, adds shine and lustre however it doesn’t clamp your hair together as well as I would have liked (next time I'll add a touch of Eco Styler Gel).
  • As soon as my curls were completely dry my hair felt well moisturized but not greasy. Yay!
  • It has a smooth slimey feel to the touch (possibly form the coconut oil) but leaves no shine or oily residue.
  • As you can see, three days later my twist out was still hanging in there, even after a sweaty work-out.
Ingredients

That's the Yoga Burn DVD. It's an hour long workout that consists of slow, meticulous movements and regulated breathing. Tones your muscles like you wouldn't believe.

@Legal Kenya, you can download it or order it directly from Gaiam.

I like your reference to Gone with the wind-"frankly my dear I don't give a damn". Not sure if you've done so already but could you post a tutorial. My attempts at twistouts have failed. Yours is bangin'!!
Yoga is great, nice stretching and relaxation but it can also cause problems apparently, check the links below. BTW, I'm not saying you should stop

Hey Tc, Yep I love the old silver screen, when men were men and women were goddesses.. About the tutorial, we were actually planning on doing a video to illustrate it best, so we got you mama :)

With regards to yoga and its benefits vs. ill-effects, thanks for the links. As a health freak I did my homework and research before the decision to become a yogi about a year ago. My fitness and flexibility levels allow me to comfortably practice yoga, I have a personal bias for vinyasa yoga, ashtanga and of course hatha yoga (very similar to yoga burn). From the links you sent us, its clear that yoga as with ALL work outs is about knowing your limits and working with your personal physician. The more difficult poses require years of practice; in that similar light, being able to bench press 50kgs or take part in a triathlon requires months if not years of training. Failure to do so would result in serious injury.

Keep sending us any other interesting links, knowledge is power!

Hey Hey Mary.
My hair is looking at your hair...and she says she wants to be like yours when she grows up:)
Anyway, I'm a sucker for Rodney Yee, I've been on his cross core train for a while now and its great, to say the least. And @TC, have a look at this...it kinda puts this whole 'to practice yoga or not' debate into perspective for me.
