In Need of New Tunes...

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Hey guys, so we were sorting our our music last night and realized that we've been listening to the same old mixes for the longest time now, (and you know we listen to the same music)...

So we were hoping you guys could come to our rescue and give us some suggestions of albums or singles that you think we definitely need in our collection. Keep in mind we are completely open minded when it comes to the arts so feel free to suggest whatever you like (add the genre if you don't mind, just to prepare us).

Thanks y'all!

Oh, right... leave your suggestions on the comment section below.

+1 Mumford & Sons, and also Amos Lee for more folk

Ok...Adele and Jill Scott are essential. If you don't have their new stuff, trade your left kidney for them...you can live without it;) Then there's Black eyed Peas for those energetic moments, Janelle Monae just because she's just glorious and throw in some Florence and the Machine for kicks!

Hey ladies... :) I am currently listening to Adele's album, but it has already been suggested, I love her! But I would also recommend Cee-Lo Green's, The Lady Killer. His album is a mix of techno, hip hop and R&B... Ok i dont know what genre he is, but i Like it. Listen to the song, "No ones gonna love you." My favorite one. Lots of love Anna.

I second atienoamisi on Ledisi, Pieces of Me, Floetry-planning on making a mix with songs from Floetic (old album), Marsha Ambrosius late nights early mornings and the Floacist new album.
This isn't exactly new but get Nas and Damian Marley's Distant relatives as well.

I'm gonna make you guys a mix of natural haired musicians... so you know it'll be soulful!*

Music, so in love with music...

Mwesh said...

Hey:) Me again. From the comments I figured Mumford and Sons would be worth a look. And all week they have been on repeat...their lyrics are what got me. Then the banjo!
Check out these guys...Rox, Erik Hassle-hot Swedish redhead, i like that he's sincere with matters of the heart and Daniel Merriweather (who Im sure u've heard of, he's one of those artists who u'd think have a really good single but crap album- on the contrary, the whole album's great) They were my staples last year so hope y'all like them!

@Anon... yipee! We can't wait! Do it girlie! Thanks for that :D "Music, so in love with music..." I concur, second it and would gladly swear upon it.

@Mwesh, I'm so glad you liked the M&S album! It's just epic. My dear I believe we could very comfortably sit down with you and trade music... call me soppy if you must but I simply adore songs that touch matters of the heart. We're downloading your suggestions now now! Thanks a bunch.x

Anything by Ed Sheeran.
Or the 14 year old wonder known as Birdy or Jamie Woon or Ellie Goulding - they'er quite breathy and light, easy relaxed listening.
Now she's gone, some jazz/swing/big band style songs in memory of Amy Winehouse are good, and songs by artists who followed her like the powerhouse Adele, or Duffy [who has faded and needs to come back].
Then there's Tinie Tempah (who is incredibly arrogant, but at the same time quite talented), Example [who is quite ravey] and Robyn, a Swedish singer who seems permanently heartbroken in the sweetest way. Some of their collabos are brilliant (e.g. Tinie Tempah and Ellie Goulding 'Wonder Man'.)
The music of Jessie J - her voice is fantastic, and the beats are a real ear worm.
I also quite like Kpop, but that might be a bit too random...:/

@ A Simple Thing.. I am ON THAT Ellie Goudling, Tinie Tempah, Example (faints, wakes up and keeps typing), Robyn (God I LOVE her), Adele and Duffy (where IS she?) trip! That's some good music.
Ed Sheeran? Jameie Woon? I haven't heard of them, but I'm on the prowl mama. Hmmm... 14 year old wonder? I don't know.. but I'll check em out but only because you recommended it :)

R.I.P Amy Winehouse.

I'm currently obsessed with Ed Sheeran (possibly an indication I need to get out of the house more). They keep playing A-team on the radio, but I also quite like the more upbeat tempo of "You Need Me But I Don't Need You" (contains one use of emphasised profanity). And my favourite Jamie Woon is 'Limit to your love'. It kind of goes like: "There's a limit to your love *ten hour pause, then two piano chords*". For some reason, I find that hilarious and brilliant at the same time.
