Key To Bunning

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

I recently discovered the key to a great, neat looking, edges slicked bun. Bunning can be a great protective style, of course if the right precautions are taken. The tips to remember when bunning is,
  • Alway detangle hair fully when bunning. If you fail to do this, your bun might be bumpy and come detangling time screams may be heard from your bathroom as you fight with tangles
  • Use hairbands that have no metal parts, these parts can snag your hair cause breakage. I have found such bands in Super Cosmetics (for Kenyan Readers) otherwise Goody ouchless bands are great
  • Use a hair brush to sleek down only the front of your hair. This will leave the front flat and neat. Use some gel and a toothbrush to sleek down those baby hairs
Buns can look very professional and you can also jazz them up with hair accessories!

Let me know what you think!

One of the most important elements I have in my bunning regimen is to form the ponytail for the bun on wet hair. It's easier and it decreases the chances that I will break off my hair from the tension on the dry hair when trying to pull it all back.

Sup Tia, I'm with you on bunning wet hair. This is especially true if I'm in a hurry and I need a quick neat look. You can also bun with a well moisturized twist-out. I think that's how Nyachomba usually does it. Her hair is longer and doesn't suffer from the tension. Plus her buns are always loose.

Hola anon, a good regimen will soften up your hair, I guarantee it. The easiest and cheapest way to do so is the home-made spirtz we keep chanting about. You can use this before you bun. Just remember to seal in the moisture with a natural oil. Check out the link below for the spirtz recipe.
