My sisters of the curl; the time is finally upon us.
It is time to hold Kenya's (possibly Africa's) first natural hair meet up!
I bet you can just SEE it! A vast gathering of fabulous curls and waves, the sounds of "uuuh" and "aaah"! The amazing outfits and sick stilettos, the smiles and the flattery. Oh my!
Nyachomba and I envision a relaxed meet and greet where we can interact with our fellow kurlies as we share information, experiences, ideas and ideologies. There are numerous natural hair meet ups that take place State Side. Take a look at this link for a glimpse of the natural hair community world wide. We need to see one red dot in Africa. Hopefully the dots will increase with time.
A number of the pictures you see on this post are courtesy of the lovely and beautiful Natural Chica. I absolutely adore her! She's beautiful inside and out and her hair is to die for. Mae is very active on the natural hair scene and is often seen taking part or presenting in the many meet ups and hair shows. Curly Mae is the lovely lass in the fuchsia blouse, second from your right.
As the meet ups become more frequent we will incorporate more themes and events. For starters, we are planning to hold demonstrations and maybe even squeeze in a few consultations.
We can't do this without you, so lets make it happen. The logistics are currently being sorted out, but don't worry we got you!
If you would like to be a part of this momentous occasion, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will make a reservation for you! Keep in mind that it is free for all! Kurly Kichana does not discriminate so whatever your hair type or sex, you are more than welcome.
More details coming soon.
