Curls are back and an Awesome weekend was had!

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

Hey how are you all...

So my braids are finally off as well! Actually I took them off on Friday and proceeded to have an epic weekend.
I basically went through the very same regimen as Nyash; saturated them heavily prior and after removal, protein conditioned, henna treatment, deep moisturizing condition and wound it all up with a twist and curl!

Nyachomba and I had an action packed weekend; from an amazing get together with friends at the National Park to an unexpected natural hair meet up and a night of partying it UP! (pics and posts coming up soon... I have to get Nyash her camera back... my bad).

So, it is with great joy that I say phase one of our protective style challenge was a success. I am currently in head wraps this week. I need to give my hair a break before I dawn the next protective style.

More on the weekend coming up...

Enjoy your day. x

Hey Anon! Lol! 4B hair can be tamed! I'll do a tutorial on how to get it all fluffy and curly as soon as I can ok? Thanks for the compliment :)

i love this!! as in it doesn't even look natural at all!

Nyachomba Kariuki said...

@Nancie Mwai..Her hair does look amazing...what do you mean it does not even look natural at all?

Anonymous said...

I really like the look, so please post a tutorial so I know what pitfalls to avoid. And yes, the hair does look natural. Most times we think we know how natural hair should look like e.g. kinky, standing on end etc, but that's putting it in a box. Depending on styling techniques and texture, the number of looks can be diverse.

It means "her Africa isn't showing" !!!

@Anonymous...Lol!!

Sigh, I think it'll take a little bit longer for people to appreciate 4B hair texture.

Miss Anon (way up top) says she has "similar hair but didn't think it could look this good"... again thanks for the compliment, but I like to think our hair also looks pretty awesome all shrunk up and antisocial.

Hey Nancie, thanks for the kindly sentiments. No harm no foul :)

I can do a lot with it, if I want it wavy, I'll get it waved up, and so on... It took a while to get to know it, but right now, we have an awesome "relationship".

Kinky_Lockz, tutorial coming up!

But in the end of the day I love to let my Africa show. Leave in the kinks <3

Dudes, seeing yours + Nyachomba's hair out, makes me want to take my braids out right this second. But I'm definitely doing so this weekend - yay! I agree with everyone else, step by step tutorial for the curls.
And natural hair meet up - where was I? I'm sad :( Post the next one on here!
Also, lol @Anonymous.

@Chilli Mango and Furahaproject..Aint no way we could have a natural hair meet up and not tell you guys..What happened is we went out and met like 4 girls with natural hair and we hang out and we were like 6 girls with natural hair chatting away...We are still planning our natural hair meet up..Coming soon
@Nancie I may have come off rude..but I just wanted you to explain yourself..because I feel most people have misconceptions of natural hair.Which I had at some time as well...

Hey Voe, I'm doing the tutorial this weekend! Thanks hun. Kengeles wasn't our gig! We will definitely send you notices way in advance when we hold the meet up.

T&C stands for Twist and Curl! I'll show you how I did mine :)
