Edible Skin Saviours

Hello there

Since trying to incorporate more natural products into my skin care regimen, I have tried a few home made masks and I just wanted to share the recipes with you and also share how they worked for me.

google search
Yoghurt, Lemon and Honey Mask

Yoghurt has amazing benefits both external and internal. When used on skin, yoghurt contains lactic acid which smooths out rough and dry skin, it also dissolves dead skin cells which can make your complexion look dull. Lactic acid can also help close large pores making your complexion more youthful. It also has antibacterial and anti fungal properties, its also very rich in zinc which can aid in acne blemishes, it can also be used to help hyper pigmentation. Adding lemon to the yoghurt will make your skin brighter and honey will add moisture to your skin

Did it Work?

Since overeating during Christmas and New year plus a general lack of exercise my skin has been rebelling and I am covered in spots especially the right side of my face. I have small whiteheads which slowly turn into dark blemishes. I used this mask once and left it on for 20mins, after washing it off my skin felt slightly greasy but I assumed this was because of the full fat content in the yoghurt. I was surprised however to find that my spots had shrunk and were no longer threatening to burst..Yuck!! This works well for normal skin and definitely does a good job of making your skin look brigther and shrinks spots

Oatmeal and Honey Mask

I love oatmeal especially for breakfast! Learning that I could add oatmeal to my skin care was pretty exciting (how sad I'm I?). Anyway Oatmeal can be used on its own in a face mask or you can add other ingredients.Oatmeal is soothing, exfoliating, hypo-allergenic, will not clog pores and absorbs any oil from skin. The best way to use the oats is to grind them down to a fine flour and then mix with whatever ingredients you want to add e.g. honey, lemon juice, banana or yoghurt.

Did it work?

For Acne and spot prone skin, this mask works wonders. The mask left my skin feeling so soft and not greasy at all. As I was washing the mask off the granules from the oatmeal were very exfoliating and this explains the softness. My skin also felt slightly tight maybe due to the oil absorbing nature of the oats.
I would highly recommend this mask.

  • Use full fat yoghurt when making the yoghurt mask, low fat yoghurt will not work as well
  • Do not expect results overnight, use this masks consistently and you will definitely notice a difference in your skin
  • Do not use these masks around the eyes so as not to cause irritation
  • If you make extra oatmeal mask you can store it in the refrigerator for up to a week
  • After washing off the masks always moisturise with whatever moisturiser you are currently using

Have a lovely week people!!

girls are more sensitive to skin health conditions. The main reason of the pollution and the dirt, they face on the work or outside the house. Hence extra skin care is required.
