Hair Last year (2009)

Hair today (Excuse the fat back and bad lighting)

Note
  • My hair never comes out poker straight never has and I don't think it ever will
  • Although my hair looks thin in pictures it isn't
  • I have not had a whole load of growth but I need to rethink my goal lengths. My hair seems to be growing on the sides but not the back
  • I dusted off the ends.
  • This is the longest and thickest my hair has ever been which makes me happy yay!
  • I shall put up more pics later on

that's great length gurl!!! i agree with points 1 & 3, i dnt wanna risk heat damage for the 'relaxed' look and even my fro looks lopsided sometimes which is why i pin it back. c'est la vie! happy growing :)

hello :)
i love what your doing girls :) keep it up.
uh question. my hair has crazy knots. like crazy!!! the knots look like my hair was melted or fused together and formed the knot. i'm yet to trim my ends but they are too much.
do you have any recommendations as to how i should tackle this???
would appreciate aggresive tactics to get rid of the knots. styling my hair becomes difficult!

oh right these are the knots on the one strand of hair. not the knots that come about coz of failing to detangle my hair.
just thought i should clarify :)
thats why i'm having such a problem styling my hair when the single strands have knots. i dont know how to deal with them :(

Hey Voe, Well I have done a post on single strand knots..cant remember when it was but its there somewhere. Single strand knots come with the territory of natural hair but there are many things that you can do to minimise them such as to keep your ends stretched as much as possible this reduces the risk of hair curling up on itself and getting knots.
Moisture Moisture Moisture I cannot reiterate this enough, The Ends of your hair have to be moisturised more than any other part because they are older and possibly weaker. Moisturise twice a day and you will notice a difference.

Also try keep your hair in protective styles such as twists etc. If you wear your hair out everyday you will have a head full of knots.
Voe, I have to ask this though you said your ends look like they are fused together that sounds very scary..what exactly have you been doing?
